After an eventful couple of evenings my week has started to look up.
I met Adam's dad in the city for dinner on Wednesday night. It's so nice to live so close to the city and be able to drive in for a dinner and drink. We went to a restaurant in Little Italy that was good, but not great, as much of the restaurants in Little Italy are. It was nice to spend the evening with someone since Adam is in Kansas City this week. I headed back to NJ fairly early as I was pretty tired and my stomach was a litle upset (I really shouldn't eat food with dairy unless I'm close to a bathroom).
Yesterday evening I met my freshman-sophomore year college roomate, Sunny, in Stamford, Connecticut for dinner. After a rough week and difficulty waking up that morning (no Adam=no wake up call), I was questioning whether or not to go. I hadn't seen Sunny in over 2 years so it was great to grab dinner and drinks and catch up. She's living in Chicago now and working as a packaging engineer there. I don't have many friends (if any) in Chicago, so it's nice to have someone to be able to visit back in the Midwest, other than Michigan. After dinner we walked down the street to Macy's where I bought two new shirts... the first clothes I bought in months!
After work today I'm taking the train out to see Kendra. It's quite a hike and involves many connections, but it'll be nice to not have to drive. I really need a nice relaxing weekend, and although the weather is calling for showers on Saturday and Sunday, maybe catching up on some new releases on Kendra's couch doesn't sound too bad...

Not myself...
After a long weekend, not enough sleep and some chaos at work I've been feeling pretty crappy all week. It probably doesn't help that Adam will be traveling the rest of the week, but I just don't feel like myself this week.
Last night Sarah and I went to get a manicure & pedicure for her Birthday and then grabbed dinner at Houlihans before going home.
Tonight I'm going into the city to grab dinner with Adam's Dad as he's here for some work conference. And tomorrow night I'm driving to Stamford, CT (only about an hour away) to have dinner with my old college roomie Sunny, who's visiting for a couple weeks.
Maybe it's the hot weather or the missing my friends and family back in Michigan. Whatever it is, I feel like I should be run down and tired but I'm not... I just feel like... blah.
Hopefully a weekend "down port" with Kendra will help...

Oscodapalooza 07'
Thursday evening we were on the road earlier than planned and started our journey back to Michigan at 7:30pm. Adam drove first and handed over the keys to me around 2:00am in Ohio. I drove through Ohio and some of Michigan until around 6:00am after Adam had gotten enough sleep to take over the reigns again. We were all so excited to get there that the drive seemed to fly by and when we arrived around 7:30am none of us seemed incredibly tired. Adam passed out for a couple hours while the rest of us spent some time catching up with friends we hadn't seen in a while.
We spent much of the day Friday on the beach, in the water, and lounging around the cabins. We made a quick trip to the grocery store to grab miscelaneous items for dinner and stopped at a Taco Bell/KFC for lunch. We had a pot luck dinner and capped the night with Flippy Cup and Smores by the fire.
On Saturday morning we had canoe reservations for 10:00am. We arrived slightly late and decided to take the 2 hour trip instead of the 4 hour trip. Apparently we made the right decision. About 15 minutes into our trip down river, Adam and Mark tipped their canoe. While Manore stayed with the waterlogged canoe, Adam and all their belongings went floating away. Between the 4 other canoes we were able to zig-zag our way thru the water and grab all of their floating belongings. Adam ended losing a flip flop but made his way over to the river bank with Manore to tip their canoe over and get back inside. After about 4 hours we made it to what seemed to be the ending point, however, it wasn't back at the Canoe Livery we had started at. We saw the van that we took dropping others off. We realized that although we had switched to the 2 hour trip, they hadn't informed the driver of the bus that, as he had dropped us off at the 4 hour point. He was nice enough to load all of our canoes back onto the trailer and take us back to the starting point.
That afternoon I took the best nap of the weekend and woke up in time for dinner. We ordered G's pizza (a northern Michigan favorite) and gobbled up 12 pizzas between the 21 of us. Skippy made Jungle Juice and after it was all gone we went back to the keg and more Flippy Cup.

Sunday morning came too quickly and the drive back seemed far longer than the drive there. We stopped at Tony's in Birch Run to consume a massive lunch before continuing on our drive. For dinner we stopped at McDonald's and Sarah ended up waiting over 20 minutes for her chicken nugget happy meal. After cursing out the Mickey-D employee for giving her Happy Meal to the little girl BEHIND her in line, we were again on our way. We made it back to Denville around 11:30pm, and we were home and in bed by 12:30am.
All in all it was a great weekend and it felt great to be surrounded by some of my closest friends, some traveling just as far as we did. I don't realize how much I miss my friends back home until I spend a great weekend with them and have to leave. I'm lucky to have such a great group of friends and cannot wait until next year!

Relaxing weekend at home
Since this past weekend was sandwiched between Memorial Day weekend and Oscodapalooza, I figured I'd take it easy and save my energy for this upcoming weekend. Here's a quick rundown of my pretty boring weekend:
-I went out for a couple drinks Friday night with Adam and Walt, but still managed to be in bed by 10:30pm.
-On Saturday, I went to the mall for the first time in MONTHS...quite a major accomplishment if you ask me. I don't know if it's because I actually HAVE money now, or the fact that I haven't been shopping in awhile, but I didn't buy anything except shampoo that I had been wanting.
-Saturday night I went babysitting and then came home and crashed, again I was asleep by 10:30pm.
-Sunday I went over San's apartment and had lunch and tried to get some sun. The weather was cloudy but we were able to lay out by the pool and just relax for a bit. After that I came home, cranked up the A/C and laid in bed watching movies online at Netflix.com (a new feature that I've come to appreciate from my membership).
I'm taking this Friday off for a weekend trip to Michigan for Oscodapalooza (a weekend in Oscoda, MI with our MSU friends). I've been looking forward to the weekend for sometime, however, I'm not looking forward to the 14 hour drive there and back. We're driving through the night Thursday, hoping to arriving around 11am Friday. I'm planning on having Adam drive the first segment of the trip w/ Fink co-piloting so Sarah and I can catch some ZZZ's in the backseat. Once Adam is tired, I will switch and have Sarah keep me awake, while Adam and Fink rest. I've never done this before and I'm not sure it will work but after staying up until 5:30am on the Friday of Memorial Weekend, I think the "Holden Lifers East Coast Chapter" can handle it. We also have a long drive ahead of us on Sunday but we won't be driving through the night so the return trip should be more manageable...hopefully. I'll let you know Monday.
