It’s been a while since I’ve updated. It’s probably because there are about 3 people who read my blog on a regular basis, and I talk to all of them pretty much every couple days. But just in case I have any “secret admirers” I figured I’d update the past couple weeks in one post.
Well I guess the first real exciting thing to post would be Valentines Day. I had been told by Adam not to expect any gifts or surprises b/c Valentine’s Day is “nothing but a stupid Hallmark holiday.” My immediate response was that it was his ONE day a year where he is actually expected to be romantic. I went off to work thinking that not only would I not be receiving any flowers, but that Adam would be at basketball until 8:00pm that night. I was pretty disappointed and was hoping that he would pull through with at least flowers from the supermarket when he came home. I went off to work and within a couple minutes of firing up my computer had an email w/ and attachment from Adam. It said “I don’t want you to hold your breath about anything coming to work so I figured I would send this.” Great, it’s Valentines Day and I’m going to get a dumb e-card!! Well I was wrong, Adam had somehow gotten tickets for him and I to see Wicked, that night in NYC. We were going to go to dinner too, but by the time we got off work and rushed into the city to make the 7:00pm show, we didn’t have time. After the play (which was so good!!!) we were too tired to go to dinner and just wanted to get home. I had to get home and pack for Texas (I was thinking I would have most of the evening to pack since Adam would be a “basketball”) because I had to be at the airport at 7:00am the next morning.
The next morning Mason met me at my apt and after getting gas, parking the car, and grabbing a bite at the airport we were on our way to Dallas, Texas. Our flight was delayed for about 20 minutes, and because our first meeting was only 1 hour after we landed, AND we were forced to check out carry-on luggage because the plane was full, I was sure we would be late for our first appointment. We ended up arriving on time and picked up our luggage and rental car and arrived to our 1st appointment 15 minutes early. On our way to our second appointment, Mason and I spotted a BW3’s from the highway. It was too late to turn around, but kept our eyes peeled for any more. We found one more and 8 boneless spicy garlic wings later, we were at our 2nd appointment. After that we drove 30 more miles to our hotel. After checking in and relaxing for a bit, we headed out for dinner. I think I was asleep by 9:30pm… what an exhausting day!!!
We had one final appointment the next morning and were able to catch an earlier flight into Newark, which put us back home by 5:30pm instead of 9:30pm. Mason flew from Dallas to San Fran to spend the weekend with his girlfriend for a post Valentine’s celebration. I drove Cindy back home, but not without stopping at Century 21 and for dinner at a local Italian restaurant.
The following weekend was pretty uneventful. I went to Happy Hour after work on Friday and babysat Saturday night. Adam went to Atlantic City on Saturday with some guys from work, as they had Monday off for Presidents Day. On Sunday I went to Jim’s house to drop off some gifts for his niece. I got to hold her for a bit and hope I didn’t damage her hearing too badly. On Sunday night I went to see “Date Movie” with Lauren, Kory’s girlfriend. It was entertaining, but because it was meant to mock various movies the storyline was pretty lame. I came home and killed some time on myspace, which I had joined the night before while bored at babysitting. I picked up Mason at Newark at about 12:40am, and was asleep in bed at 1:30am getting ready for the new week.
The work week flew by, and by Thursday night Adam and I were cleaning our apartment for my sister and mom’s arrival the next day. They arrived a couple hours late on Friday night at about 11:50pm. On Saturday we ventured into the city. My mom wanted to see Ground Zero and go to St. Patrick’s Cathedral for mass at 5:30pm. We parked in Hoboken and grabbed lunch before taking the PATH to the World Trade Center. By the time we were at church I could barely keep my eyes open. I feel asleep on Adam’s shoulder during the homily, something I don’t think I’ve done since I was a child. Yesterday we spent the afternoon walking around Century 21 in Morristown, and then hitting up the grocery store on the way home. It was nice to have my mom pay for my groceries, I didn’t go crazy though. We picked up the stuff to make Chicken Divan for dinner and Lasagna for tonight’s dinner.
It’s been so nice to have my mom and sister visiting. I don’t realize how much I miss them until they’re here. It’s weird to be able to talk to them face-to-face, or kiss them goodnight. I know it will be hard for my mom when she leaves, but I’ll see her in another 2 months, if not sooner.
