I have been absolutely terrible at updating the past couple weeks (actually it’s almost been a month) so I apologize in advance for an excessively long recaps.
Three weekends ago Adam and I flew back to his parent’s house in Rochester, NY. Although it’s only a 5 ½ hour drive it was much easier to fly and gave us more time on Sunday to spend in Rochester. We spent Friday night catching up (we hadn’t seen his parents since May) and going through pictures and souvenirs that his parents brought back for us from their Alaskan cruise. On Saturday we went to the Custom Brew crafters Autumn Festival of Ales. I had been to this beer festival 2 years prior, 2 weeks shy of my 21st Birthday so this was my first time “participating” in the event. It was cold and drizzling and for the first time the Brakoniecki family left a beer fest BEFORE the event was over. Leaving the beer fest however did not stop us from drinking more beer. We went to MacGregors for dinner and sampled some of their seasonal drafts before heading home. On Sunday Adam helped his Dad empty the garage while I rummaged through the basement looking for craft supplies, etc. for girl scouts and catechism. Because our flight didn’t leave until later that afternoon we were able to grab a lunch/dinner before taking our short flight back to Newark. I definitely liked having the extra time in Rochester and think that we’ll check into flying back instead of driving more often.
Two weekends ago Adams parents came to visit. The trip back to Rochester was planned months ago, but this visit was scheduled after I applied for, and received, complimentary Celebrity Jeopardy tickets. Adam and his parents are huge Jeopardy fans, and it was nice to be able to see the show being taped. I had also never been to Radio City Music Hall before so this was a great opportunity and since it was free it made it even better. After Celebrity Jeopardy we went to my favorite local Italian restaurant for my birthday dinner. On Sunday morning Adam and I went to church with his dad and returned to the hotel to open my Birthday gifts. I got so many awesome gifts!!! I got a MI Brewing Co. t-shirt, a set of authentic Japanese tea cups, a “teardrop” LL Bean backpack (to help avoid leaving it on the train), and my choice of a selt belt bag purse. I loved all my gifts and the Birthday company!!
On Monday, October 9th was my birthday and it was a great day!!! I got showered with gifts, lunch, treats and flowers from my co-workers and parents. Adam bought me a white gold bracelet and surprised me with it in the morning when I woke up. That evening 12 of us went out for dinner and had a great Mexican dinner complete with Coronas and Margaritas. Kendra drove in from Long Island and brought me some great gifts and a homemade cake. It was so nice to see her on my Birthday and it was great that everyone else had come as well. A year after moving to NJ I finally feel like I have some real friends. I hope we can all get together again soon…maybe for Adam’s Birthday?!
