"I've only seen it in movies!!!"

The past week has been so crazy!! Last Wednesday I babysat for a couple hours after work. The kids were so good, and acted like angels for me, which made my night much easier. After baby-sitting I headed home to pack for my business trip to MI the next morning. I drove to LaGuardia airport all by myself, and in order to get there and not hit traffic I left my house at 6:30am. We arrived into Detroit Metro airport, picked up the rental car and made our way to our 3:30pm appointment. After our appointment we had dinner at Gandy Dancer in Ann Arbor. I had one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Dinner was all around good, but the portions were very small. My mom and dad met me at the hotel that night and brought my dog for a visit. I hadn’t seen my Dad or dog since Christmas. It was good to see them, even if it was only for a couple hours.
On Friday, we took the 1st flight out of Detroit which meant getting up at 3:00am. By the time we got off the plane in NY, it felt like lunch time to me. Mason picked me up at the airport and we continued on to our appointment on Long Island. I was exhausted!!!!
I left work at 4:30pm and went home to meet up with Adam and Abbie. Adam had taken the day off work to spend time with my friend Abbie. I wish I had some sort of vacation time!! Anyways, Friday turned out to be so warm… I think it got to 72 degrees!!!
On Friday night we went to Hoboken and met up with everyone. It was good to see everyone; I don’t think I had seen most everyone for a couple weeks.
On Saturday Adam, Abbie and I headed into the city. Abbie constantly mentioned how everything she was seeing she’d “only seen in movies.” We started at Blondies on the Upper West Side to watch the MSU basketball game. After another Spartan upset, we cut across Central Park to 5th Ave. The whole city was out and about, as Saturday was another gorgeous day. There was tons of families out for a walk, picnic or just sitting in the park. We headed home pretty early and had Chinese delivered while watching one of our favorite movies, Old School.
On Sunday Adam decided to stay home, while Abbie and I strolled around the South end of NYC. We started by taking the Staten Island Ferry, which goes by the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It doesn’t get super close, but close enough to get a couple pictures. We then walked up to Canal, and then to Soho, then Little Italy and finally to a very scary neighborhood I don’t think I’ll be going back to. After getting home at 8:30, I was exhausted. I couldn’t even think about work the next day and just wanted to crash.
It was so good to see Abbie and spend time with her. I love when my friends come to visit, I just hate when they leave because I realize just how different all my friends from home are, and how much I miss them.
This week/weekend I don’t have much planned, other than possibly going out to dinner for Mason’s birthday on Saturday night, and babysitting on Sunday. I’m looking forward to sleeping in on Saturday and Sunday, and doing a little spring cleaning…we’ll see next week how much rest and cleaning actually get done.

Your blogs alone tire me out...I can't imagine keeping up your pace on a daily basis. It is all I can do to keep up with my snail like existence! Sounds like you are having a great time entertaining all who come out to visit you. I don't want you and Adam to feel like you have to entertain or cook for us when we come out to see you guys next month...we'll just relax and order take out or go out, OK?
