Its a Saturday morning and I'm sitting at the computer eating cocoa puffs thinking about how much I LOVE the weekends. This past week of work has made me appreciate sleeping in on Saturdays and Sundays.
It all started on Monday. I was supposed to find out from my Dr. if I was cleared to fly the next day for a last minute business trip. After two phone calls to my Dr's office I was good to go, only to find out that the trip would have to be postponed to Wednesday and there wasn't any more room on the corporate plane, so my boss would "think about it and get back to me." After not hearing back from him on Monday, I figured I was off the hook. On Tuesday I got a call from him that he would need me to go, but I would have to meet him in Columbus, OH, meaning I had to take a commercial airline and somehow be there by 9:00am the next morning. I found a flight on Continental airlines that left Newark at 6:50am, which meant being up at 4:00am the following day.
I woke up at 3:00am, afraid I wouldn't wake up in time and tossed and turned until 4:00am when my alarm finally went off. The car service was picking me up at 4:30am so it was a good thing I choose to shower the night before. The flight out of Newark was suprisingly on-time and I landed into Columbus at 8:30am. I ended up hanging out at the airport, reading, making a couple phone calls, etc. until my co-workers landed at 10:00am.
As I mentioned before I recently got a promotion to handle one of our largest accounts, and after fighting pneumonia last week, I wasn't sure I was in my top condition for my first meeting with the customer. I managed to pull myself together and somehow make it through the day.
The flight back to Newark was delayed and I didn't end up getting back home until shortly after 9:00pm. The rest of the work week was hectic as well, and I've put in my fair share of time at the office, not leaving until after 7:00pm on both Thursday and Friday. It seems to be I'm finally getting the hang of my new position, and for once, I'm actually enjoying what I'm doing. I feel accomplished at the end of the day, and really hope that my employer notices the extra hours, and hard work I've been putting in to this account.
Anyways, I've been awake for over an hour and have really done nothing. I went to bed at 9:00pm last night after we lost power at 8:00pm. I woke up at 10:00pm to Adam who was playing video games on his ipod and also noticed the power was back on. I fell back asleep and slept more soundly than I did all week. I'm thinking about curling up in bed, opening a good book (I'm currently reading "Bringing Down the House" by Ben Mezrich and it's AMAZING), and doing NOTHING the rest of the day... I think I deserve it.
