This past weekend was pretty uneventful. Adam and I were supposed to go home for the Homecoming game, but decided not to when we couldn't find cheap airfare. We're going home next weekend for Fink and Sarah's wedding, so we figured that was more important than going home and watching the Spartans blow it. And blow it is quite the understatement... I think we turned the game off when the score was 42-7, and we didn't have 42. Adam made a comment that we would have been pretty pissed to go all the way home to see that game... so it's a good thing we stuck around Jersey.
On Monday Cindy and I flew back to Michigan for an appointment. We took a flight which connected in Chicago, which made the simple trip an all day event. I woke up at 4:30, in order to be in the car by 5:30, for our 7:45am flight. After having an hour delay, running through 2 airports, and 3 flights we were all boarded and on our final flight from Chicago to Detroit. After waiting an hour and a half on the runway we were finally in the air. About 1/2 way through the trip we began to hit some turbulance. The captain came on and ordered the flight crew to stop the beverage service and take their seats. Because of the horrible weather at Newark we had to circle the area until we could get cleared for landing. It felt like a 60 minute roller coaster ride, and when the stewardess came on saying "in case of an emergency landing, please remember to leave all carry on luggage on the plane" we knew we were in trouble. Now I think about her comment and realize that all it did was get everyone on that plane even more worried than we already were, and besides, I don't think I'll be thinking about my carryon luggage as we're plummiting toward the ground. Needless to say, it was an interesting, long, tiring trip and my bed never felt so good.
This weekend Skippy is going to be in NYC, so tomorrow night Adam and I are going into the city to hang out and stay with him in his hotel room. On Saturday we're going to take Skip and his buddy, Lenny around. I'm looking forward to this weekend and I couldn't be happier that tomorrow is Friday. Hopefully spending time with Skip this weekend might improve my mood. It's nice to have someone to visit with. I can't wait for my family to visit again. I've been really missing them lately. I don't know if it's the cold weather, but my little house on Carolina always felt warmer... but I suppose it was just the people in it.
"Another winter day has come
And gone away
And even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home
And I'm surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know"

Hope your visit with Skippy did the trick! You really just need a visit to Rochester to eat and drink and that will lift your spirits! Talk to you soon. Adam's mom
