For some reason today feels like Friday. Maybe it’s because I’ll have my 1st 4-day weekend this year. I’m way to excited for this weekend and I know it’s dumb to get so worked up because I’m only going to let myself down when it doesn’t exceed my expectations.
After 2 straight weekends of rain, I’m really looking forward to lying out on the beach. I’m also very excited because Kendra will be coming down again this weekend, and Mark Manore is going to be here for almost a week starting on Monday! I have so much to look forward to during the next week and a half!!! On Saturday is our big party at the shore house (see invite below). Assuming the ants don’t infest my bedroom again, I don’t think it would be possible to ruin my weekend. I just wish it were here already!!!
On another note, I was finally able to finish reading A Million Little Pieces. Despite the controversy surrounding this book, it was actually a very good read and I really enjoyed it. The next book I’m starting is The Devil Wears Prada. Reason one being that I had the book sitting on my shelf for years, and the second being that Kendra and I are planning on seeing the movie Tuesday, which gives me 5 days to finish it. I don’t know how I plan on finishing it in less than a week considering it took me over 4 months to finish A Million Little Pieces. I’m babysitting tonight and tomorrow night, which should give me some time, not to mention 3 days of beach reading.
Hopefully by mid week next week I’ll be onto My Friend Leonard which is the book after A Million Little Pieces. After that I don’t have any other books “planned,” and since Jennifer Weiner hasn’t come out with a new book since Goodnight Nobody I’ll probably just grab one of the many books on my bookshelf that I’ve yet to read. Does it make me sound like a senior citizen if I admitted that I would actually be interested in joining a book club??

WHAT only senior citizens join book clubs? Oh, yeah! That's right, I'm only a year away from retirement...boy, saying that just never gets old! I'm reading All He Ever Wanted (Anita Shreve) and Love in the Time of Cholera (Gabriel Garcia Marquez) right now. Just finished The Reader (Bernhard Schlink), Bel Canto (Ann Patchett) and when the Emperor Was Divine (Julie Otsuka). All were really FAST reads and since I borrowed them from my reader friend, Wendy, I felt I had to finish them in a timely fashion. All of the three I just finished involve war in some way and I had no idea that would be the case when I began them! I would recommend all of them but I think that I enjoyed reading Bel Canto the most. Keep up that reading (and join a book club...my reader friend is in two of them and she isn't anywhere near 50 yet...but she is a reading teacher! Go figure, eh?) Have a GREAT 4th of July weekend!
TGIF!! (Almost, technically just hours away). I'm super excited for this weekend, too.
P.S. I'll join a bookclub with you. Then we can feel like the two oldest 22-year-olds around!
